I have to start out by saying that this site began as a "work project." As a graphic designer, I needed a site I could send potential clients/job offers to. I needed to demonstrate that I could build a fully-functional website. That being said, it has been fun to take one of my hobbies and turn it into a site for our friends and families to read about our weekend activities. I hope that our website will provide you with useful information about our team, our sport, and with additional motivation and strength that will help you to pursue your own dreams and goals.
As a team we have participated in the incredible sport of bobsled for nearly ten years now. I started in a "youth-development program" under the guidance of Randy Will, a 3-time Olympian. Our current coaches include Pat Brown and Brian McDonald. We've done some competitions here and there, but for us it is mainly about having fun as friends. Some of our pushers and brakemen have high-hopes about trying out for the Olympics. But me? Not so much. It used to be a big dream of mine, but this summer really got me thinking. So all you athletes reading this, it is official. I'm a bit older now and have other priorities in life.
As you discover the inner workings of our sport, it is our wish to help you get to know us as athletes, as a team, and as fellow human beings.
More than anything, we desire that you will encounter things on this site that will help you to evaluate your own goals and find the courage and strength to pursue them.
After spending years on the ice, I've truly come to appreciate the splendor of the thrilling, fast-paced world of bobsled. I've had the opportunity to train and meet some of the best athletes in the world, men and women who have sacrificed and dedicated their lives in the pursuit of Olympic goals. From bobsledding to skeleton, speed skating to even some freestyle skiers. If there is any one thing that they have taught me, it is that you truly can do whatever you put your mind to, as long as you are willing to pay the price to get it.
I hope that you find the courage to go after your dreams as you strive towards your own personal 'Olympics' in your life!
Dream Big and have fun out there
